Baby Shower Game Ideas

If you’re tired of baby shower scrambled word games, here are a few different ideas that require a little more active participation from the guests.

Test the guests’ baby-changing skills with this “Change the Baby” game. Have a life sized baby doll and two changes of clothes set up on a table. Have layers of clothes like onesies, a shirt, pants, dress, bloomers, socks and shoes, hats or bonnets. Time each guest as they undress and re-dress the baby doll. The fastest time wins.

You can encourage guests to mingle with the “Clothespin Game.” As they arrive, give each guest a diaper with a clothespin. Explain that no one should say the word “baby.” If a guest hears someone say “baby,” they can take the speaker’s clothespin. At an appointed time, the clothespins are counted, and the person with the most wins. (The diaper makes a handy place to clip the clothespins as they are collected.)

Mothers try to be prepared for the everyday emergencies of childhood. This game is called “Will the Real Mother Please Stand Up.” Before the shower, make a list of “be prepared” items that a mother might have in her purse. Whoever can come up with the most on the list wins. A few ideas to start the list are safety pin, band aid, gum or candy, towelette, notepaper, crayon, small toy, pacifier, nursing pad, and baby clothes.

A game that requires a bit of pre-planning is “Guess the Baby.” In the shower invitation, ask each guest to bring a baby picture. Collect the pictures as the guests arrive. Then show each picture, and have guests write down their guess of the identity of the baby in the picture.
