Planning a Baby Shower

When planning a baby shower its best to be organized so as not to muddle the ever so important details. Before you start planning for the details you must know the basics, who is hosting the gathering, will the father of the baby need to be present, and is the location at a residence, restaurant, or rental.

Most importantly figure out your budget and to what aspect of the party do the funds go to. Plan for accommodations of the most important guests, the expectant mother and immediate family, whether they are traveling a great distance or they're local.

Designing your theme is next. Gender specific, or gender neutral there are so many small detailed touches that can take a simple baby shower and make it extravagant. Here are some things to think about, pick your colors, napkins, centerpieces, plates, and cake in coordination with one another.

The guest list is next in line; this can be a daunting task but sit down with a member of the family for assistance. First decide if it’s an all female occasion or a couple event and go from there. Make sure to double check your names to ensure everyone receives their invitation. When planning your menu consider hors d'oeuvres, buffet, or courses. While you’re planning your menu add two additional vegetarian sides. Decide on your meats: roast beef, pork tenderloin, or seafood, then accompany your main dish with complementing sides.

Once you have decided on your guest list, theme, and menu go shopping. Make light of a potentially stressful situation by having fun with your shower. Don’t forget the ever-important party favor, but this piece is chosen at your own discretion.
