How To Plan A Baby Shower

Your best friend is having a baby, and you want to throw her a baby shower. The first step begins with the invitation. Make sure the card or the e-vite indicates that this event is a baby shower. An important tip to remember before sending out the invitations is to consult the mother on the date and time. You would not want the guest of honor to be unable to attend.

The next step should involve selecting a theme. If you know the sex of the baby go with pink for a girl or blue for a boy. If the sex of the baby is undisclosed, go with a neutral color like yellow.

After you have picked a color scheme and a theme, compose the guest list. The menu selection should be next on your list. Popular party favorites include spinach dip served with French bread, tortilla roll-ups as well as fruit and vegetable trays, cheese and cracker platters and a cake.

You cannot have a party without games. One game you could play is called "Don't Say Baby." Upon arrival, each guest is given a certain number of baby clothes pins, and whoever has collected the most clothes pins at the game wins. The trick is, you cannot say the word "baby." If you are heard saying the word a clothes pin is taken and the people who “outted" you get it.

As host, you may select the time to present the mom-to-be with her shower gifts. Remember, when planning this shower, it is all about the mom and it is her day to shine.
