Baby showers are meant to be fun occasions. They are usually hosted by a relative or close friends of the new mother. They can be hosted in almost any location except the new mother's home. The baby shower does not have to be elaborate, but simply reflective of the person for whom you are giving the shower. It can be given before the birth of the baby or after the baby's birth.
You can either do the hosting by yourself or have someone help you. That way neither of you will have so much work to do and you can split the cost. Either way you should work with a budget. That will help you choose a place to host the shower as well as the kind of decorations.
Often times, those hosting the shower will choose a theme to celebrate the arrival of a new member of the family. Simple decorations can be chosen that will set the theme or you may want to decorate a cake with the colors of the new baby's gender, if that is known.
The baby shower can be hosted in your own home, a restaurant, a church hall, or a park. A shower is usually held on a weekend so those invited will have a better opportunity to attend. The shower should not go beyond three hours. That way guests and the new mother will have time to enjoy themselves and not get too tired. You can check with the new mother whom to invite to the shower. Many times men are also invited, especially the new father.
With just a few simple guidelines and a little time and effort you can host a wonderful baby shower.
